Puzzles[edit]

Round note: For each puzzle, you are given two copies of the same grid which has multiple solutions. Your task is to find two solutions that are, in a particular sense, completely different.

All puzzles in this round were written by Sam Cappleman-Lynes.

1-2. Heyawake, 65+90 points

No cell can be shaded in both solutions.

3-4. Pentopia, 25+80 points

No pentomino shape can appear in both solutions, counting rotations and reflections as the same.

5-6. Yajilin, 30+45 points

No cell can be shaded in both solutions.

7-8. Shikaku, 40+45 points

For each circle, the rectangles containing that circle in both solutions cannot have equal widths and equal heights; either the width or the height must be different from one solution to the other.

9-10. Shakashaka, 55+65 points

No cell can contain a triangle of the same orientation in both solutions.

11-12. Rassi Silai, 40+50 points

No cell can be an endpoint of a path in both solutions.

13-14. Doppelblock, 60+60 points

No cell can be shaded in both solutions and no cell can contain the same number in both solutions.
