Rules[edit]

Four Snails Example and Solution.png

Write the given words along the snails, in the order from outside towards the middle. The same letter can not appear more than once in each row and column. Sign "-" means there is no letter in cell. Some letters are already given.

(Rules and example from 24hPC 2009 IB)

Rule variations[edit]

  • Contrary to its name, there is no need for the puzzle to have exactly four snails.
  • Word Hitori Snail from WPC 2017/Round 23: Furthermore, cells without a letter cannot share an edge. Although this variation is called Hitori, there were no rules about the connectivity.

History of the puzzle[edit]

Invented by Nikola Živanović (Serbia) according to Marko Obradović. [1] Probably first appeared on the 10th 24-Hour Puzzle Championship (2009).
